MEET Gannon Fremin & the boys from OKLAHOMA
Gannon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We are all originally from the small town of Walters, OK and have been friends for quite a while. The band is comprised of Gannon Fremin on vocals, Travis Julian on lead guitar, Wade Cartwright on bass and Tyler McCartney on drums. We formed the band in 2016 and had our first gig at a small festival outside of our hometown. We were so ready to get on stage and start performing, that we hadn’t even though of a name for the band yet. During the set the same day, we came up with the name CCREV or Cross County Revenue. Since then, we have changed to Gannon Fremin & CCREV. Not long after, we released our first EP, Underage, and to our surprise, it caught some nice traction. Ever since then, we have just been pushing through the hard times and honing our craft. We just recently signed with Ascent Music Group and they have helped us a lot with getting more gigs further away from our home town. Texas Local Live has also has helped us out on our backend with social media/PR to help give us more content to keep us looking fresh!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest struggle we have had in our short time span so far is when we first started none we were 21, so it made it difficult to get into venues to play just do to that. We kept pushing through though and slowly the tides have begun to turn in our favor.
We’d love to hear more about your band.
We are first and foremost lovers of music and want to do this forever. Every member of the band has different influences and they all melt together for our own unique sound. We bring a type of energy that only young, southern Oklahoma natives can! We specialize in bringing the most entertaining show you can possibly go too on any given weekend and pride ourselves in that. What sets us apart, we believe, is by our songwriting. No song is truly original as you are taken bits and pieces of anything you see and hear, then telling it through song with your perspective. With that said, we think we have a way of telling our stories in a new, fresh way, that instantly has people turning heads and wanting to hit repeat. Crafting a song is one of the only things in life that makes you completely vulnerable and the best songwriters/bands are able to make you believe every word you are singing. That’s what makes Gannon Fremin & CCREV so special and built for the long haul.
What were you like growing up?
Kind of a funny question for me as, in a way, I am still growing up, but I learned from a young age that to be successful you have to work harder than everyone else and leave excuses at the door. I have always been sort of eccentric and had a non-typical view on life as far as how I perceive them compared to everyone else. Most of my life has been based around music and enjoying the people that surround me. Life is about being happy. If you aren’t living your life on your terms, it’s something that I won’t ever be able to understand.
